After a busy holiday season it’s time to get back into the groove of things. Your post-holiday marketing can be just as important as your efforts during the holiday season. These tips will help you leverage the post holiday season to boost sales and improve your business.

1. Put your 2017 New Year’s resolutions into action

Whether you set inspirational, financial or environmental goals for your business, it’s time to put them into action. Create reminders so that you and your team stay on track. Check out our post on New Year’s resolutions for small business you can use as inspiration.

2. Be prepared for gift returns and exchanges

After the holidays, stores are full of returns and exchanges. You can turn these into new purchases by offering a discount for customers when returning or exchanging items. You can also rearrange your store so that your best selling items are near the front of the store or by the cash register so people are likely to make new purchases. Providing people with a good customer service experiences also makes customers want to purchase items.

3. Check in on your holiday customersProcessed with VSCO with e5 preset

After the busy season, follow up with customers who made holiday purchases and show them your appreciation. You can send out coupons and exclusive deals to everyone who made a holiday purchase, encouraging them to become repeat customers.

4. Get new online reviews

Use your post-holiday follow up with customers as an opportunity to ask them for online reviews. Ask your customers to share their shopping experience with your business through Yelp, Facebook, Google+ and 411.ca reviews. These reviews will turn your customers into brand advocates and will help build your reputation, attracting more customers to your business.

5. Create future content

Set aside some time to stock up on content you can use throughout the year. Create a bunch of social media and blog posts when business is slower so you don’t have to worry about it during your busier season. You can also take this time to create unique visuals for your marketing campaigns using tools like Canva or digital marketing services from our partner Arnold Street Media.

6. Launch a social campaign

Start 2017 off with a new social media campaign. The beginning of the year is the perfect time for change. Introduce new products, branding and style across your social media channels. It will also help to boost your engagement and increase your followers for the rest of the year.

7. Target interested shoppers

If you have an ecommerce site, focus on users who were interested in your products but abandoned their shopping cart last minute. Offer these customers free shipping or discounts to encourage them to make purchases.

Your post-holiday marketing efforts can make an impact on your new years sales. Don’t miss these opportunities.
