Owning a business in Toronto can become overwhelming for you and your employees. Conventional distractions like going to lunch and grabbing drinks at the nearby bar help lighten things up and de-stress the team, but can become monotonous over time. Team-building activities, particularly ones that involve everyone getting active, are a great way to keep things fun and develop stronger relationships. Toronto occupies some truly unique spots to host team-building events; here are some of the best ones:

BATL (3 locations)

There’s no better way to de-stress than throwing an axe at a target, and at BATL (Battle Axe Throwing League) you can do just that. It’s a ton of fun and there are group options at any of the three Toronto locations. We recommend the Toronto West location (you can drink there).

HOURS: Monday – Saturday, 11:00 AM – 8:00 PM

The Rock Oasis – 388 Carlaw Avenue, Suite 204

This rock climbing joint is a great space to host a team event. There are group lessons available and a bunch of climbing wall options – so whether you’re a beginner or pro you’ll have a good time.

HOURS: Monday – Sunday, 9:00 AM – 11:00 PM

Track & Field – 860 College Street West

This unique spot combines drinks with Bocce and Shuffleboard. You can rent a lane and grab some cool drinks or book your own private event there. Even if you aren’t interested in the relatively old school games, the atmosphere is fun and inviting.

Escape Casa Loma – 1 Auston Terrace

Escape games are usually optimized for smaller groups – but Casa Loma’s Escape Series is fit for bigger groups, with bigger rooms and bigger challenges. It offers dedicated times for team-building events, making this a perfect option. It’s also one of the best reviewed escape rooms in the city, so it’s worth a booking.

HOURS (for team building): Tuesdays, 5:30 PM, 7:30 PM & 9:30 PM

Sky Zone – 45 Esandar Drive, Unit 1A

Choosing to go to Sky Zone for your next party is a bit of a risk because of its highly competitive dodgeball games and chance for injury, but it’s definitely worth it. You’ll be working up a sweat while having some fun – quite contrary to typical happy hour affairs. You can book a space for dodgeball or just bring the gang to jump around, there’s lots of space.

HOURS: Tuesday – Friday, 4:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Saturday 10:00 AM – 9:00 PM, Sunday 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Rallying the troops with a happy hour beer is still a viable, highly-recommended option – but team building can always be fun and different with all the unique alternatives Toronto has to offer. Trying something new every now and then is always a good idea.
