The new year is a great time to form new habits and ramp up your productivity. There are tons of products and services out there that we can recommend, but we’ve narrowed it down to a few apps for your smartphone and some of our exclusive business partnerships.

Productivity Apps

We’ll start with the apps. We did our research and compiled a list of some of the best productivity apps out there for 2017. This list is composed entirely of free apps ranging from note-taking to daily news, and as a result is in no particular order:

  • Evernote: This app will be your digital notebook for any to-do lists, notes, articles, photos, PDFs, audio files, and more. Not only does Evernote have a mobile app, it’s also available as a desktop download, Google Chrome extension, and a web page. The app will do all the syncing for you, so no matter where you are you can always save or access anything in your notebook. Every word in every document is indexed to be searchable too, so no need to worry about remembering the exact date and title of that blog post you saved.Slack CMYK
  • Slack: This is actually one of our favourite apps of 2016 as well, having recently moved our Marketing/IT department chatter from Skype to Slack. Available as an app, desktop program, and web page, Slack is a great place to communicate with your staff. It allows for quick file sharing, creation of groups for smaller team projects, and prevents you from having to sort through tons of emails when everyone starts hitting “reply all.”
  • Google Drive: Probably best known for the desktop version, the mobile app provides full support of all your Google files as well. If you haven’t used Google Drive before, it’s a cloud storage space where you can store files of any kind, or create new ones. Document creation is similar to Microsoft Office, except storing them online allows you and your employees to simultaneously work on the same documents and see changes in real time. Structure and privacy settings are intuitive, and the integration with your existing Google account is seamless.Feedly Image
  • Feedly: Catching up on your daily news can be difficult, especially if you’re usually one to read a variety of different topics from a wide array of sources. Feedly helps you bring all of this content together into one app, making it quick and easy to catch up for the day. You can choose a simplified text layout, but we recommend using their beautiful tile interface to stay up to date. Not only do they have hundreds of topics and websites to choose content from, but you can save articles to read offline later.
  • Any.do: Sometimes you can get caught up in work and forget to do daily tasks, and this app is here to help. With to-do lists, reminders, and notes, you’ll be able to stay on top of every task you have to complete. We love this app because you can use the voice entry feature to add notes by talking, share and assign tasks to others, and fully integrate the app with your calendar. This is another app that you can use on your phone, computer, or the web.

There are a ton more apps out there that can help simplify your day and boost your productivity, but these are some of our favourites. If you think we missed a great one, please contact us on one of our social channels and tell us about it!
