Bev is passionate about helping others! She believes that taking care of someone, no matter their age, is important and valuable to the care giver as well as the person requiring assistance, and preserving one’s Independence and Dignity is critical to maintaining emotional and physical health. To that end, she has worked as a volunteer for different organizations and has come to realize helping others is a calling. To add legitimacy and formal training to her natural compassion and experience, she has completed the training required to become a “Certified Professional Consultant on Aging”. LOCAL PROFESSIONAL WORKS TO MEET CHANGING NEEDS OF CANADIAN BOOMERS AND SENIORS Bev Garrett, with Home Care Angels has completed a comprehensive course about the priority aging issues impacting Canadian Baby Boomers and Seniors. The course is offered through Age-Friendly Business®, Canada’s premier Academy training professionals about the evolving needs of our 50+ population. Successful participants complete a thorough examination to earn the Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA)®designation. Bev has taken this educational initiative to become a professional leader in meeting the key needs and issues concerning maturing Canadians. In the history of the world, two-thirds of all people who have lived past the age of 65 are alive today. By 2015, we will have more people over the age of 60 than under the age of 15. This has never happened before in the history of Canada, and requires an educated response in how professionals support with the challenges and opportunities facing our maturing population. As a Certified Professional Consultant on Aging (CPCA)®, Bev Garrett will participate annually in continuing education provided by the Academy. The CPCA membership will ensure that Bev remains an informed professional for the 50 plus and senior citizens. Bev has owned and managed businesses of her own for over 30 years and so has an abundance of organizational and management skills. She also has the common sense required to aid people in maintaining their current lifestyle or making the changes necessary to move forward toward a different but still positive future.
