The romance of fine dining returns to Toronto at Flor De Sal. Traditional white linens and candlelight create an elegant mise en scène. In the kitchen, old-world, soul-stirring recipes get a modern spin under the deft hands of Chef Roberto Fracchioni.
Remember that heartwarming dish your grandmother used to make back in the old country? If your grandmother, avó, abuela, nonna or grandmère hailed from Portugal, Spain, Italy or the Côte d’Azur, you just might find that dish on the menu at Flor De Sal… albeit, a decidedly more chic version that delivers the wholesome flavours you crave. Chef Fracchioni is creating modern cuisine (but never ‘modernist’) influenced by the foods of Southern Europe. Guests of Flor De Sal will be treated to Mediterranean flavours and specialties originating from the region spanning from the Iberian Peninsula to the Italian Peninsula. The Chef’s approach is to honour the traditional cooking methods and historical roots that make each dish authentic while plating in a beautifully contemporary style. You will not find the tricks of molecular gastronomy here. Our menus change seasonally and at the whim of our Chef. Unique daily market finds will be featured in ‘chalkboard’ additions to our regular menu. Some recent examples of dishes at Flor De Sal include our Portuguese Cornish hen, octopus with chickpeas and chorizo, and bistecca fiorentina. Our oyster bar offers an ever-changing selection of domestic and internationally sourced bivalves. While we may think global, at Flor De Sal, we also live local. Our Chef draws on the vast resources of his relationships with local Ontario growers, producers and artisans, cultivated over the past 15 years. We provide our guests with the best ingredients Ontario has to offer, while augmenting our dishes with fine imported products for an out-of-this-world taste experience. Some might call it contemporary fine dining, some would say we serve international comfort food. However you wish to classify our cuisine, we hope you will love Flor De Sal’s modern renditions of our favourite classic dishes..
