HOT WATER HEATER INSPECTION TIPS: 1) Look all around (including top & bottom) of your hot water tank for sediments. Water sediments takes time to build. If you find sediments on your tank, it was likely caused by a constant leak. 2) Look for wet spots or rust all around your hot water tank. Remove the little door/cover on the bottom of your water heater. You won't always find sediments. Instead, you might find rust or small puddles. Rust, puddles or large amounts of white dust are not good signs. 3) Look for the install date of your hot water tank. If your hot water tank was installed over 12 years ago, it might not be worth fixing. The average lifespan of a water heater is about 12 years. Some may reach 25+ years. Older tanks are usually full of rust on the bottoms! 4) Look all around your drain valve (at the bottom of your tank) & your T & P valve (use Google image search). If there are signs of water underneath these parts, give us a call! 5) Not getting as much hot water as before? It could be something simple. Example: a tube in your hot water heater has broken off. It could also be full of sediments that has accumulated over time. 6) It is recommended to drain your hot water tank once per year 7) Is your water heater still under warranty?
