The name Earth of Light stands for the fact that the coarsest of matter may be turned into light. Likewise, the crudest of men has the potential to transform and the opportunity to awaken in this lifetime. Transformation naturally happens as a result of being with what is, whatever that reality may be. When your reality is seen as it is – with no mind involvement – it effortlessly transforms into what can be. That which is awakened in you during transformation is truth, which is the light you are. The end result of this alchemical process is a body of light, hence the business name Earth of Light. The Native chef on the logo symbolizes the ancestral heritage of Canada, the red man having come closest to living in harmony with our native land. It is also meant to illustrate that all man and woman have an inner chef, waiting to be given birth to and wanting to break free from the chains of societal conditioning. Seeking to be a force of transformation beyond borders, Earth of Light donates 10% of all profits to Friends to Mankind. The simple but profound mission of this international non-profit organization is to bring awareness to humanity, with the faith that this awareness will one day translate into people doing what they can from where they are and affirming that they are friends to mankind. In the spirit of collaboration, the therapists of our network are also encouraged to offer free counselling to clients in financial straits.

It takes courage to take the first steps towards getting help, I want you to know that it does get easier. I can support you to discover your strengths and help you make the changes you need to get on the road to feeling whole. You understand your situation best, which means you also hold a solution to the challenges you currently face. That doesn't mean it is easy, you might feel so overwhelmed that you may be unable to see any way to get out of your difficult situation. This is where counselling can help. I have over five years experience practicing as a counsellor. Previously, I have worked for an Employee Assistance Program providing counselling and training counsellors in their network. I completed a Masters of Social Work at the University of Toronto in 2008 and have been a Registered Social Worker since then. Some of the reasons people see me for counselling include: - Anxiety - Stress (at home, at work) - Depression - Past traumas - Parenting challenges - Relationship difficulties (with romantic partners, with friends, with family members) If you think you could benefit from psychotherapy, I would be happy to discuss your goals and how I can assist you. Some of the counselling styles I use are: - Attachment-based - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) - Mindfulness Meditation - Narrative - Psychodynamic - Solution-Focused Contact me today for more information.

Relationships, communication with others, transitions, life changes and unexpected events are often difficult and stressful. Everyone runs into personal challenges from time to time, and for all kinds of different reasons. It is my belief that we are resilient human beings with all the intrinsic resources and strengths to help us resolve and heal any issues we have to deal with. Nevertheless, it can be very helpful to have the support of a professional, who is not connected to one's personal life and who can provide a new perspective, tools, and coping strategies when dealing with life's adversities. My work with individuals, couples and families is based on the understanding that childhood relationships, attachment styles, patterns and dynamics from our 'Family of Origin' carry over into adult life. Difficulties in adult relationships or within the 'Family of Creation' often originate in unconscious, partially resolved or unresolved childhood issues. • Passionate about providing the highest level of professional counselling services • Diverse life experiences, wide range of training and expertise in areas that many people struggle with • View therapeutic services as ongoing and preventative • Increase quality of life by conducting intermittent, long-term therapy to work on existential and spiritual concerns

I teach, one on one, individuals of any age who have problems with literacy. I overturn dyslexia. I teach spelling, comprehension and how to get meaning from the printed page. I change the attitude of the student, from one of fear and dislike of reading to one of enjoyment and interest in learning from print. This includes how to write an essay, how to study for an exam and how to understand whatever you are interested in, be it a novel, an educational subject or the newspaper. I also teach basic math (up to Junior hi) . Overcoming emotional blocks to educational success has hel;ped my clients (children, adults, university students, professionals)to work successfully to achieve their goals.

Making the decision to go for counselling can be a difficult one. Recognizing your need for help & guidance from a professional with an issue is the first step to dealing with it. Seeking out help takes alot of courage & here you are so I commend you for that because it is a sign of strength. The different areas of experience that I deal with are: Addictions Domestic Violence Abuse Relationships Depression & Anxiety Confidence & Self -esteem Body Image Stress Management Suicide Grief & Loss Career & Employment Personal Growth & many other life issues We feel the counselling experience is a valuable one and believe deeply in the process therefore we keep our rates lower as well as have a sliding scale based on income so that we may be accessible to everyone & be able to assist as many people as possible. TESTIMONIALS: "I reached out to Butterfly Project when I realized I had dug myself into a hole, so deep that I needed help to get out. When I first met with Gorete, I felt comfortable with her immediately. She has a very calming, non-threatening, non-judgmental presence and was very supportive right from the start. Attending these sessions has helped me tremendously to dig at a lot of the emotions that I have been burying deep down for years! I have learnt so much from Gorete and there is no way I could have make the progressions I have thus far on my own. I feel like Gorete can relate to me and many other women on a personal level . She truly understands my thoughts and concerns and poses the right questions to make me listen to my own words and realize what I am saying as well as making me question my words/thoughts. I have learnt so much from her and am so thankful that I found such an amazing, inspirational counsellor to help me get back to being me! It's a long tough road but I know it will be worth it in the long run!" From: Anonymous female in Winnipeg "Until my sessions with Gorete I blamed myself for a lot of what was happening in my relationship in regards to the emotional and verbal abuse and on occasion physical abuse. First of all I would like to say that she offered a lot of emotional support for me as well as educated me on what an abusive relationship is and the dynamics of an abusive relationship. She was not only there for me during our scheduled sessions but also at other times when I would need to talk to her. She never pressured me or told me what to do but just informed me and helped me to understand what was going on. She helped me deal with the shame and guilt after reconciling and convincing my entire family and friends that he can change and that this is what I deserve now that I took him back. She helped me to feel safe, and feel like I matter and that I don’t deserve this type of treatment. Even now that I have made the decision to end the marriage she has been a constant support and reassurance that I am doing the right thing for myself and kids and helped me to stay strong and focused on what I need to do."
