The Centre for Spanish Speaking People provides important free, confidential and bilingual services for the low income Spanish-speaking community throughout the GTA. Their legal clinic covers a number of issues, including immigration, Employment Standards Act, employment Insurance, social assistance, pension, landlord and tenant, and human rights issues, as well as assistance with legal documents. They also have an intake line where callers can get advice over the phone. Their HIV/AIDS programs include one-on-one and crisis counselling, support groups, Spanish educational materials, outreach, and community-based research. They also have programs for Spanish-speaking women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, including crisis and group counselling, support groups, court accompaniment, information legal rights, finding transitional housing and applying for social assistance.
