Juan Luis was born in Lima, Peru were he began playing guitar in a variety of tropical bands, later immigrating to Canada in 1977 where he now calls Calgary, Alberta his home. Since arriving in Canada he played in many bands where he developed his interest for different styles of music before beginning a solo career in 2004.
With his debut album “Touch of Class” Juan Luis established himself as a bilingual singer appealing to younger and older fans. From his first album Juan Luis evolved from tropical styles of music such as salsa, merenge, and cumbias which he had played with other acts, into the more traditional romantic musical styles which are accompanied by his acoustic and electric guitars. Lush orchestrations and gentle textures often feature prominently in Juan's music. Juan Luis is very versatile musician with an incredible passion for music as a Calgary “Spanglish” recording artist and with an excellent reputation he has performed at such venues as the Hyatt Hotel in Calgary, Kananaskis Delta Lodge, Orpheus Theatre (SAIT Campus), Fairmonth BC, and many more... His repertoire varies from songs by Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble, Carlos Santana, Eric Clapton, Engelbert Humperdinck , Al Martino,Toto Cotugno and Mariachi music to traditional contemporary English, Italian, Portuguese and Latin songs. His musical collection of CD’s Touch of Class, Emotions, Like Never Before, Thinking of You, For Ever and his recently feauture Cd would be release this Summer 2015 are available for purchase at any Chapters Indigo or CD PLUS store.
