Therapy Services for Children, Youth, and Adults provided in Beautiful British Columbia, in the Heart of the Okanagan Valley: Kelowna. A Convergence of Currents occurs where one or more streams meet and flow together creating a larger river. Similarly, I believe that counselling is a collaborative process between client and therapist where relational and generative conversations create transformation. Are you experiencing marital conflict, anxiety, or depression? Are you going through a divorce, struggling with your mental health, or trying to kick an addiction? are you experiencing family challenges and trying to figure out how to parent? I work with individuals, couples, and families helping them with emotional and mental wellness, marital conflict and family struggles. When we face challenges in our life or in our relationships we often feel desperate, afraid, angry, stressed, or disappointed. This is a signal that we might need outside help to bring health. I am confident we can work through the challenges your facing. Often challenges have a way of paralyzing us. I will help you identify areas of your life that have created a barrier to your dreams and visions for life and then support you in the healing process. I work from a relational systemic and collaborative perspective. Meaning that I work with you collaboratively and support your goals for therapy. I am trained in EMDR, and when appropriate, can use this highly, effective treatment to help you work through trauma or anxiety. EMDR helps the brain process trauma. Contact me today for more information or to schedule an appointment.

Am I talking to a person who doesn't know what is happening to them? Someone who is not sleeping or oversleeping? You have no appetite or are overeating? You are very tired & can't get things done? You have problems concentrating? You have little or no interest in sex? Your thoughts are so negative? You don't want to go on like this? The worst part is that you know something isn't right, all is mixed up & if you could talk to someone, you would not know what to say. You feel alone & scared. I CAN HELP YOU, I WILL LISTEN!! Helping clients understand the difference between thoughts, negative thoughts & feelings is the base of my help in areas of my specialty. Dealing with Mood, Anxiety & Relationship Issues are made easier if we can get these three biggies separated. This is the heart of the help that Cognitive Behavioural Therapy offers. Welcome to my world! I have practised as a Psychiatrist since 1996 (2014- retired). I believe that I bring a unique perspective to Counselling because of my medical background. Over the years of Psychiatry I have learned from a person's body language what may be troubling them. I most certainly have learnt to listen & observe.

Healing Words Counselling~ Grief and Loss A safe, confidential, non-judgemental environment for people to share and have someone with compassion, understanding and empathy really hear them. Death is not the only way we experience loss. These can include: Serious illness/Loss of health Relationship breakup/Divorce Loss of a close friend Home/valuables destroyed by fire/Robbery Loss of a job Leaving home Financial security Miscarriage/abortion/still birth ____________________________________________________________ Children grieve differently than adults. Children grieve when: Parents divorce Entering a foster home/Being adopted Friends moving away Pet dying/being put down/given away Parent becomes incarcerated ________________________________________________ My name is Monica, and I am the owner of Healing Words Counselling; a non-judgemental, confidential and safe environment. Are you feeling consumed by grief? Do you need someone to talk to? Has your child lost a loved one? Younger children, under five years old do not have a concept of death. If the child keeps asking the same question again and again it is because he or she is trying to understand and make sense of this confusing information and the loss in his or her world. There are times when few words are left to heal us; when what we wish for is to be carried and when all we have left is the hope that tomorrow will be a gentler place to land than today~

Deborah grew up in Calgary, and moved to BC in her early 20's to pursue her dream of attaining her masters at UBC. Since that time, Deborah has co-developed and facilitated programs, workshops, and groups for child/youth, camps and retreats, parenting education, bullying, spiritual growth, relapse prevention, and brain injury. Deborah provides short and long term counselling to individuals and families and youth who need help with issues around behaviour, learning, mental health, trauma, and relationships. She helps clients discuss and understand their life experiences and consequently, themselves. This helps to facilitate a resolution of the psychological consequences of current and past isues - doing this work leads to true and lasting healing. Deborah completed her Master of Arts in Psychology (Behavioural Neuropsychology) at the University of British Columbia, during which she held a fellowship with IMPART that involved extensive training and research regarding the intersection of violence/abuse with mental health/illness and addictions. Deborah has a Diploma in Applied Psychology & Counselling from Kelowna College of Professional Counselling and is a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (#4470). She is supervised by Tony Martens of Martens and Associates.

Are you experiencing a difficult situation and finding it hard to cope? Are you having problems in your relationship, separating or divorcing? Perhaps you are suffering from anxiety, depression, stress, feeling lonely or homesick? Know that suffering alone is not necessary when counselling can help you to cope successfully with those devastating feelings. I offer you very comfortable, non-judgmental sessions where you will feel cared, understood, and supported. I also offer you a service based on respect, confidentiality, and ethical principles. I strongly believe that counselling is successful when the client and the therapist work together to create solutions. I use Postmodern approaches in my counselling with most of my clients, and one of my greatest accomplishments is when I see them discovering and using their own strengths. My sessions are in English or Spanish, Monday to Friday 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM. I also offer sessions some weekends and evenings through Skype. Refugiados e hispanos de bajos recursos contactarme para precio especial en consultas.
