Sunday November 6, 2016, Metro Toronto Convention Centre

This event is hosted by Canadian Small Business Women and provides a platform for women to network with those who have similar interests, as well as attend seminars and workshops on running a small business. You can learn from industry professionals and representatives and get tips on how to get the most out of your business.

Toronto Public Library

The Toronto Public Library offers a number of free workshops throughout the year including fashion, digital storytelling, and photography. They allow you to develop new hands-on skills you can use towards your career or develop new hobbies for your pass-time. They also offer small business programs and seminars.

Enterprise Toronto

Enterprise Toronto and its partners offer several opportunities to learn new skills year round through seminars and events for small businesses. Their September events include a Digital Marketing Boot Camp, Starting Your Business 101 and an Entrepreneur Boot Camp.

Bitmaker: Intro to HTML + CSS

Bitmaker offers this intro course to teach you how to code websites from scratch and the fundamentals of HTML + CSS. This free course gives you the basics and provides insight into what the part-time and full-time paid courses look like. They also host a couple of other courses including Intro to UX Design.

City of Toronto – Small Business Forum 2016

Thursday October 25, 2016, Metro Toronto Convention Centre

This free event, hosted by Enterprise Toronto, is happening during small business month. It features keynote presenters and large companies discussing how different technologies can help you operate and grow your business.

Toronto Tool Library

The Toronto Tool Library hosts a couple different workshops throughout the year including woodshop certifications and how to use power tools. Buying a Toronto Tool Library membership gives you access to a variety of tools you can rent out for a period of time and access to different workshops on the tools. They also have free community nights where you can enter without a membership.

The Toronto Public Library Business Inc.

The Toronto Library hosts many small business classes throughout the year. Many run for 8 or 9 weeks and cost around $150. Business Inc. assists entrepreneurs in preparing a business plan and networking with other entrepreneurs. Visit their website for more information about their programs.

Silicon Valley Meets Toronto: FinTech

This event, hosted by Plug and Play and MaRS Discovery District, is a private financial technology startup showcase featuring startup pitches and discussions about the fintech industry. Attendees include TD, CIBC BMO and Deloitte.

The AGO has a number of workshops and courses throughout the year with some costing as little as $5. Students can choose from a variety of courses including drawing, printmaking and photography, and will get to work directly with artists and experienced instructors.
