While the first day of school is right around the corner, it’s not too late to promote your biz for back to school. When it comes to back to school marketing, we think school supplies and kids’ clothes – but this post is to help you think outside the box and show you how you can use the last week of the back-to-school season to your advantage.
1. Offer a weekend-only promotion
The Balance posted an article with a ton of back to school promotion ideas your small business can offer. Here are a few of our favourites that we know our clients can use.
By offering a weekend only promotion, you’ll still have a couple of days to sort out the details and you’ll be able to catch all of the people who have had busy summers and have had to leave their back to school shopping/preparations until the last minute.
2. Host a Contest
Hosting a contest is a fun way to market your business while getting kids excited about school. For example, have your followers share a photo of the student on the first day of school for a chance to win your product/service. This contest won’t take place until the day school starts, so you still have a week to plan if you get started today.
3. Connect on Social Media
So you have an idea of an awesome last minute promotion you can offer or a contest you can host, but how are you going to communicate it quickly? Social media. While print marketing materials are an effective and tangible way to market your business, what’s great about social media is that you don’t have to account for the time it’ll take to produce the marketing materials.
You can use a social media tool like Canva to create an amazing visual, post it, and you’re good to go. Even if you don’t create a promo or event, you can use Canva to create a “happy first day of school” visual to share across your social media.
So there you have it, 3 last minute ideas for back to school promotions. Don’t forget to offer these deals again when the next term rolls around.
